The Pyrenean High Route Section 1 (Lescun to Gavarnie)
No one forgets walking the Pyrenean High Route, it's one of the all time classic high mountain walks and a particular favourite of the HWS. The route follows the border between France and Spain and passes through some of the most wild and beautiful mountain landscapes in the world. While basic, the mountain refuges are spectacularly located and provide meals and sleeping accommodation allowing us to walk carrying minimal weight. A typical day involves up to 8 hours walking and 800m - 1500m of ascent/descent.
The HWS will not walk the Lescun to Gavarnie section of the route during 2022, however we will walk Section 2 - see page on HRP2. For costs, dates and a full information pack e-mail Bruce:
